I'm hoping Saturday will be the better option, will be there picking up a few bits for my traction engine, will likely be loitering around MJ eng's stand

If anyone went to the rally today and sees this, can they tell me how muddy the car park area has got? I am intending to go on Sunday and don't want a repaet of 2007 when I got stuck and very muddy!

Just got back, the whole site was the driest I have known in the last 4 years that I have been going, put my boots on and there is not a spot of mud on them. They were playing cricket on the green that is right next to the carpark as well.
They have also laid scalpings on the track from the bridge to the bottom field so no more straw & mud to contend with.

Was there today from 10.30 until 15.30. Slight rain started as I walked back to the car to drivec home. Field was dry. Sun shone. All was good in the Exhibition and Rally and I only spent just over £5 on bits so the distaffg side is happy.
Wore my badge all day and no-one of this group appears to have seen it. Nor did I see anyone else's.
We need a bigger metal badge or, better still, have it embroidered on shirts or jumpers like our ME Club's T shirt.
Who's go the master that we could take to one of they computer controlled sewing machine embroiderers ?

Was also there today from 10.30 until 15.30.
I spent a lot more than £5 on bits!
Wore my badge all day but was too busy looking at the stands to notice another one!
It was a great day - I did note that Geoff Stait has now left Reeves and set up a new venture ... G&S Supplies I think it's called. Apparently he was there today but I missed him.
I have got the master of the badge courtesy of the original designer (Myford Matt). I'll go look for it.

Good to see so many people at this event, says a lot about the organisation and the team concerned. Great to also come across one of the members and have a chat, always nice to see a face after reading their posts. Generally weather was better in the morning, ground conditions were okay to walk around on although some the the road vehicle owners were saying it was a 'bit sticky' when moving around. Railway tracks were busy all day.

This I thought was rather nicely finished, although I didn't find out what it was This 24 Cylinder Dagger engine was something else! But this little 5" Dutch engine is one that I'd like to build when I finish the Brit next year........

King arthur class? I got a few. That's Peter Fagg from the Brighton Club with his Gold Medal winner. He has an Adams tank that's just as nice. I try not to run my locos at the club when he's there as it just makes me feel inadequate Andy

I was there both days and the weather held up pretty well, only one short downpour that was over in 10 minutes. Caught up with old friends and made some new ones.
The Saturday was very well attended and Sunday was pretty full too. No problems with the car though when people see an Italian car they tend to jump out of the way..
The 13 hour drive back was fun with all my purchases rattling around in the back.
A big pat on the back to the organisers. Well done to all ;D

This I believe belongs to Pondok who subscribes here if it is he won IMLEC this year in the 31/2" gauge section I'm sure when he see's this thread he can tell us more about his beautiful loco. I wish I had gone now that 'King Arthur' looks stunning and the back head to die for.

No it's not Pondoks. I belongs to Bruce Hope a Guildford member and isnt finished yet. First steaming apparently will be in the next month or two. It is however a 3.5" gauge SAR 15F with a lot of the parts made to works drawings. Pondok wil be able to tell us more.

Yes that's Bruce's loco, been following his progress for a few years now. Andy/Pondoc was also there running his engine.
Tony - We'll have to pull together and make it next year.

Hi guys, yip Andy is right, it's being built by Bruce Hope (member of Harlington and Guildford clubs). It is indeed a SAR class 15F, as is my loco, so we hope to double-head at next year's Guildford rally. This was quite common in south africa. Bruce is from Bulawayo, Zim, while I am from Johannesburg.
Full size was 3ft 6inch gauge, so the models come out large in 3.5" gauge, which does seem to give an advantage at IMLEC over the 3/4" scale 3.5" gauge locos. If they had smaller grate areas, they'd have a good shot at winning imlec. At 6 x 7 inches, they just use too much coal, a design needed in south africa because of the indifferent coal quality over there.
I was at the rally on the Sunday, running from 3pm, and it was dry for the whole run, only tipping down about 6ish.
Here is a clip of one lap on youtube, Bruce driving and me filming just behind:
Next time anyone here sees us at a meet, please do say hello!
cheers
Andy (pondok)
