Spurly
You want to stop reading these posts, its obvious I don’t. If only Bill could get the spell checker to understand what I meant as opposed to what I spelt. Far better than telling me it’s all a fragment of my imagination.
Mind you never know who’s watching so I might just keep behind this green fire wall.

Hi Jim It's not the spelling I'm picking up on. It's the chance to use a bad joke There's plenty of mistakes, including mine, just not many options for a pun ;D Cheers Brian

Now that is what I would call a work of art Tel. How long did it take to make all the parts, and then to assemble it, For some reason, I have never enjoyed making lucricators at all so far, and I've made 3.
I am currently building a Standard Class 2 Tank loco in %" and I am considering a differetn type of lubricator for that. I am wondering about a displacement lubricator, but I haven't researched it at all yet, as I am only as far as getting the loco onto it's wheels now. Now is the time to consider it, while the frames can be drilled etc for internal tanks if required.
Does anyone have much experience with this type of lubricator please?
Donald

'bout 40 hours in it.
Personally I think you'd be better with the Jim Ewins type - probably a 2 cylinder version - than a displacement.

Would our trusted membership advise one tank per pump per cylinder? Is it the only way to be sure the oil is reaching the necessary parts, ie, empty tank all gone to desired place, full tank, expensive repairs?

With the Ewin's type? Nah, you can trust them if they're properly made - bung 'em both in one tankWould our trusted membership advise one tank per pump per cylinder? I have only built one pair of lubricators, some years ago, and being for a quite small 7.5"ga loco I needed something likewise compact. I discovered that the lubricator for the Len Mason's "MINNIE" was not only the perfect size but an easily built and effective mechanism.
A few years ago someone designed and described a new type lubricator in ME which I had intended to build for my current loco (2X TICH) which used a swashplate mechanism to drive triple plungers, very much like a hydraulic motor, the result being to deliver a virtually continuous oil supply rather than having delivery only half the time on account of the pump having to cycle through a suction phase. Unfortunately I cannot now find that article or issue. (Edit: I have now found the issue and article - in my file marked "Lubricators." Who'd have suspected?)
