Have a small 0-4-0 batt/elec on order to go on the garden railway which I am just beginning. The small kids can start on that and graduate to the steam Ruby in due course.
I am assembling track sections first (b*lls aching task) and then I will lie it on the ground and construct the path edgings and ballast to suit. I don't think the 10 foot radius is very precise!
It will be about 200 feet altogether with return loops at each end.
Hope the weather is dry in the new year so we can get running in Spring.
Haven't yet set the lathe or workshop up so any start on a steam project is unlikely for a few months. In any case I am dithering over what to build.

Nice one smallbrother, sounds like a blast, keep us updated plse. I have just started a 5 inch gauge railbus based on the experimental leyland vehicles that were messed around with in the eary 80's = LEV's as they were called and I think about 4 of them were built. I am doing the last one produced ( RB004 ) which is now preserved on the Telford Steam Railway. Not too sure about what colour scheme I will be giving it yet but leaning towards brunswick green as per the 60's railbuses, not prototypical I know but will probably look better. It will be twin axle ( no bogies with a 150 watt motor powering each axle via spur gears. If it needs more power, then it will just be a simple case of adding another motor to the axle driving the opposite wheel. Hoping to be very detailed with the doors constructed and inlaid seperately, ditto the windowframes. All handrails fitted and leds for the lights. What is everybody else doing ? do tell......
