I am thinking of treating myself to a small lathe as my Colchester Bantam 2000 with its 8" chuck feels a bit mighty for making some of the tiny bits I'm encountering in my Red Wing engine build. Has anyone got any strong feelings either way about the Chester DB7V please? I have spent ages studying the available small (and cheap) lathes from Axminster, Warco, Chester, Cromwells etc etc, and the DB7V seems to be well ahead spec - wise.
Comments gratefully accepted! John.

You will get more replies if you ask in the Tools section not one dedicated to Modelworks engines.
Having said that I would suggest spending your money on a 5" chuck and/or collet chuck for the Bantam, I have a similarly sized Warco WM280VF and don't have a problem doing small work with the 5" supplied chucks.

<<You will get more replies if you ask in the Tools section not one dedicated to Modelworks engines.>> Thanks Jason. I'm not that familiar with this board and the capital M hadn't registered! Put it down to senility!
Good advice re. the chuck. I'll see what small camlocs I can find. One thing that was putting me off using the Bantam was that the 8" chuck is relatively new but has a 2 1/2 thou run out quite close to the jaws. Also it seems slightly ott to be running a 4HP motor while making a 3/16" o.d. by 1/8" bore by 1/4" long bush, as I was when the idea of the smaller machine came over me. John.
