I discovered that Mr Wilson has made a gross error Thats pretty unusual I'm constantly flabbergasted how many articles start with an apology due to errors in last magazine! Chimock, breaks etc. bug me as well

Just catching up on this another of my projects. They do help each other and was able to draw out a similar valve gear for the 517, very delicate but to scale also using the spoon shaped bits in the middle. Will have to alter the valve parts on the bulldog to sort out this problem. Finished the tiles over the cooker so we are back with great food again, Chinese of course. It is looking a lovely model .

Just as you get it covered and painted and very pleased with it some sod in England points out that you have got the reversing arm perfect as it is supposed to be like a dogs hind leg, but inside the green cover. I shall now go and duck behind the bench.

It is not easy to do that on the model . I am a practical man and do what is practical and trouble free . You don't have to hide I am peaceful person . I considered the issue and decided against it . all criticism is welcome . It is a hobby and we do the best we can .

she looks fine, but if you are like me and I think you are then that won't matter as long as she runs well, if you can post a video as I would love to see her run and I'm not going to be your area any tome soon.

Thanks Rob , there were reasons for not placing the reversing rod under the cover , these being 1) some boiler stays were in the way 2) I wanted the rod to be a little stronger 3) the rod would foul the lagging and 4) I was worried about fouling problems in the future . This way it is free and if something does happen it is easily fixed . I intentionally put this side of the loco on the site to see whether It would be noticed . Guess what ? I am quite happy to listen to any remarks and explain my view for the benefit of all . This is what is all about .

Looks a great loco, you've certainly captured the look of the full size engine. A suggestion about the reach rod:could it be painted green as it passes the firebox cladding (or is that cleading I never know!),and the rest left bright down to the weighshaft? Look forward to seeing a pic or two of your loco in steam soon!

Hi Laurie Thanks for your remark , I will steam test it and run it as soon as I can organize it with the other club boiler inspector and then I will place a short video on my website and here if possible . I am a boiler inspector but I can't test my own .

Hi all Now I have tested and run the Dukedog and very happy with it . It performed very well , no problems with valve lifting , it responds to the regulator satisfactorily . Plenty of power , satisfactory traction , the boiler very efficient ,it is winter here and I was running with the fire door open most of the time . See picture and short video below . ( click on the second picture to run the video )

Wow, I shall have to spend more time building my Duke of Cornwall instead of drinking in The Duke of Cornwall Ivybridge, only joking I have lived here 3 years now and never visited any of the 8 or so establishments in the town, you try and drill a straight hole on your return!!!
