'all expense not spared at HMS Fisguard' I was there in 1963, but it was called H.M.S. FISGARD then.

'all expense not spared at HMS Fisguard' I was there in 1963, but it was called H.M.S. FISGARD then. It was, and still was when I was there in 1976 (the hot summer); excuse my mispelling late on a night. Old days for me (and much older for you I see!), sadly undervalued in my youth. I wish I could do it again, without my mind waiting for the weekend and fun and beer over the chain ferry in Torpoint. Probably the best apprentice training available in the UK at the time, although I am open to correction. Regards, John (an Ellis east side wan*** )

'It was, and still was when I was there in 1976 (the hot summer); ' Ah, by then they had taken my tools away. I was flying the Wasp from the back end of HMS Berwick, you might have seen me doing the Plymouth Navy Days demonstration that year, lobbing smoke floats in the water and pretending they were depth charges or homing torpedoes!

Afraid not, on the Navy Days in 1976 we had a trip out to sea on HMS Tiger, impressing the press contingent by firing its big guns (impressed me too!! and they were popguns compared with what they used to have!!). They took my tools away as well , swapped for the Wasp's replacement , the Lynx. Regards, John
