Unfortunatley a dead end. Still no sign of 1184 and almost a thousand people have viewed this thread.
Hang head in dispair and hope one day she will appear!!
Cheers David

Regarding Midland Compound 1184, sadly my father. Mike Smart passed away in 2010. All of his locomotives are still in the family, 1184 currently resides proudly on display in our dining room. I have countless fond memories of driving the compound and his others including Rob Roy, a Horwich crab and aHighland Railways Clan class 4-6-0. His last and unfinished project, an outside framed Kirtley goods, resides in my workshop awaiting completion. None of the locomotives have current boiler certificates but it is my intention to re test then and put them back into use. If you would like any further information pleas email me at "smartyrob@aol.com"

The Kirtley Goods would be a lovely model and one not often seen. I look forward to seeing it completed.

the Chichester (west sussex) MES has an excellent and very fine Kirtley Goods with valves between in 5"g. ive a postcard of it somewhere with the builder's details - when i attended many moons ago it was specially steamed up for me to drive whilst a few others had a go at my 5"g GWR Armstrong Standard Goods. if Brian Bird is still around he will recall the occasion very well as he was secretary of the Chichester club at the time and the reason for my visit. cheers, julian
