Hmm... Is it legal to put BR wagons behind an LNER loco? Or will i be chased with burning torches and pitchforks?

Well...my OO gauge model railway is set in 1948/1949, and I run BR stock alongside LMS and PO stock - everything wasn't painted overnight!

In that case, those timken logo's could look fantastic on my cargo wagon..

Hi everyone. I'm a Newbie. I found this sight when searching the web for info on Timken B.R. axleboxes. I haven't yet found out how to upload photos, so I am going to try uploading from Photobucket, the same way I do in the performance car forum I subscribe to. I am using a photo of the Timken axlebox covers on the tender of Evening Star, which I am building to works detail drawings. Well here goes. Hope the post come up with the photo in it. If not it's back to the drawing board, so to speak!!!

Best way to upload photos here with something like photobucket!
Would love to see more of the 9f, what gauge is it, maybe start a build thread and post some info and photos? On the Timken covers, are you looking to get some or are you making them?

Well at least I know how to upload photos now. Couldn't be easier! Anyway, I want to get the axleboxes right on the tender so I am in touch with Timken UK to try and get copiues of the original drawings for the BR1G axleboxes. If they manage to find tham after all this time, and I can get copies, I will post them on here and make them available if anyone wants them. Just hoping I can get the drawings otherwise it's a trip up to York with measuring sticks, pencils and paper!! Incidentally, I do have the Timken axlebox assembly drawings, with dimensions, for the BR 6000 gallon tender if anyone is interested.

Would be interested to know if you get anything out of Timken. I was thinking of trying to review the axlebox drawings at the NRM - which I think is the following:
D60-26048 AXLEBOX FOR TRAILING TRUCK AND TENDER 4-6-2 PASSENGER ENGINES
Which is a Timken drawing rather than an SL/DE drawing number (Standard Locomotive, Derby)
The 9F tender may be different, but I doubt it.

The tender for Evening Star is a B.R.1G. I have the frames assembly drawing but the drawing list is not very clear. The axlebox drawings are RR 3443/7 Type TS3. but the number may also be RR B44B/7 Type TS3. The guy who picked up my email, at Timken has passed my request to the Rail section. It will be interesting to see whether anything comes from them. Being a drawing from the 1950s it may take some time to locate the drawings and it might not even be possible after such a long time.

The BR1 tender bottom end is identical for all the engines.... Except the springing.
Tanks changed and so did fall plates but AFAIK nothing else did.

Just had a reply from Timken. No luck unfortunately. They have looked but the relevant drawings are missing. Back in the 1990s all the old drawings were transferred onto microfiche and a lot have gone missing since - the tender axlebox drawings among them. Oh well; will just have to go visit the NRM with my measuring sticks!

If not Bob Mike is just having the tools made to do the Timken covers with 1954 on them rather than 1950 to suit 92220.
I may even have an axlebox drawing that has some form of Timken cover on it but will have to check
