Nice! Very underrated machine the Shaper. I'm hoping we can expand the club workshop in the not too distant future and have room for a shaper.

Very underrated Ed, with a set of slip gauges and a DTI very accurate work can be accomplished....they may not be the fastest but times cheep in this hobby

Guy at our place was a toolmaker for Pottertons. One of they're old guys challenged one of the Apprentices to a finish competition....him with a shaper and the App. with the surface grinder....the shaper gave the better finish, despite meticulous dressing of the grinding wheel

Couldn't agree more we had an 18" Atlas moved metal faster than the miller, we used it for cutting keyways in bores as well. Paul

Could quite believe it Ed,
I ran a cut the other day with this just to see how its runs, the tool was crap and just whatever I had without sharpening, and the finish was great.
It is a older machine so bull gear runs in a bronze bearing that I need to replace as there is at least 15 thou clearance at the moment. Other than that it's in top condition.
Looking forwards to getting on with axle boxes in the not so distant future
