Hi Again in a recent post i asked about derailing, I was measuring the back to back distance on my axles and found although positioned as per winson the are over size by 1/8 the driver and front axles are oversize as well, has anybody else measured theirs? regards D

Hi Dave,
Not a direct answer to your question but you may know that the Winson 14XX was virtually a copy of the Didcot design by Neville Evans. On the Didcot drawings the back to back of the wheels is given as 4-11/16" so if yours are 1/8" wider than this then that is probably what is causing your derailing problem. If the wheel profiles are incorrect as well then that will make matters even worse. The wheel flanges will be prone to riding up the inside of the rails on curves. I had a similar problem with a 3-1/2" gauge Princess Royal where some of the wheel sets were that tight between the rails that the treads didn't even touch the top of the rails!
