Hi, Roger, and other interested parties, I have used Tamiya Masking Tape with success, but have found that it must be new as the adhesive seems to 'go-off' and become more tacky with age. (Note to Tamiya's lawyers: Just my limited experience!) www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/tamiya-masking-tape-6mm-refill/When I am especially nervous, before applying the tape I touch the adhesive surface with clean fingers, the tiny amount of grease thus transferred loosens the 'tack' of the adhesive a bit more and yet retains the grip adequately to prevent paint flowing under the edge of the tape. (Don't really want to take the thread further off-topic... if there is a lot of interest in 'masking paintwork' maybe a new thread is needed?) Regards, and may your paint never drip, Phil.

--------- It used to be "Curtains" for me, but now I've learnt to spray thinner and allow more time between coats !!......Shopping with SWMBO works as does washing the car, gardening, wallpapering, visiting the MIL (Mother in Law )OR}--- taking one of my Classic Motorcycles out for a ride ( Guess which is my favourite ??)----------------- who said the MIL ?

sorry Roger, long time for me to reply. the tape is called micropol. I don't know if you can get it outside of the NHS. It as a very light footprint and will not pull the paint off. also take a look at the green coloured edging tape sold in DIY shops, this is designed to go on paint and as next to know stick. yet work on locos. michael
