He's going to fall foul of the selling rules I think, as he states you get everything shown in the pictures.
I'd certainly buy that for 125 quid!

It's the same "trick" our friend in Brum has been doing recently--ie Show a completed item as main picture but it's only a part-built or just parts that's actually for sale.........Still, makes a nice looking loco I think!!

I'd be a bit concerned that the horns and axleboxes are complete and fitted but not even riveted to the frames. It doesn't look like he's appreciated that fact that these are going to move when they go together on the frames.

I had to look twice when I first loaded the page, but the first pic is the full size loco!

£50 for a set of drawings and laser cut motion parts and axleboxes etc sounds quite good.... this is actually one of the very best 5"g designs ever, by don young/len hough, as david (Midland) is building. cheers, julian

Well guys, I have a completed tender for Aspinal and I have ordered the loco frames from Malcolm although he is making them from my drawings, so I am starting the loco. I am a rank amateur as you know from my many questions but as I learn from you lot, I mighht start a built thread so you can help me along. I am not a greeglade, hagley, parrot or any of the other experts but I have cast my hat into the ring so watch out I will need all the help I can get. What do you think of this foolish boy? back to the real subject, yes looked at the ebay thing but prefer to do my own thing as badley as I will, at least it will be mine, just hope it puff, puffs one day! Cheers david

Hello DAVID------------that's the spirit matey !!...... get stuck in !!.........Nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh .....Hey-up chap, I'm no "expert" ( you forgot Julian by the way----now he IS an expert in the fullest sense)... but I have PAID working experiences in Marine, Automotive, Rail ( Steam and Diesel) and Military Engineering PLUS being involved hands-on within the Model Engineering world since nee-hi 't grazzz hopper, our kid !!..........and like the rest of this motley crew I'm more than happy to offer help, advice, and guidance based on that background.....In see you're in touch with Malcolm High---he's a good chap and that's a good move...If you are going to start a build thread then remember the old adage of a picture, 1,000 words etc and try to post some timely photos, please......?? Wasn't it that Aspinal they used in the first "Railway Children" film ??...........anyway, good luck and remember that we're all behind you ( it's safer there LoL ! )

Blimey, the drawings would cost that alone I think ?? ( Proper 1st and 3rd angle drawings too---- not a load of sketches !!)-----------Maybe you could get him to join in with us ---- perhaps co-build alongside our "Midland" from Southampton ??

Hi Ed Spring hangers are WIP and being filed, slowly. Have had to do a couple of maintenace jobs on the red (Crimson of course) ones and our society here seems to have taken over my life. Also the Compound runs beautufully so have been playing trains instead of making them.
And sorry Julian, I left you off my list of mentors, humblest of apols!! First job is back to trying to get these damn broken studs out of my princess boiler. Should add that I have been painting on rust buster stuff all week as I have had to do proper work, as in sitting at desk writing letters to people who owe my client money, all 144 of them!!!
Cheers guys David

Cheers david Hi David I'd love to see a build thread for your loco...Aspinal looks a real beauty and it's got Don's pedigree so will be first class. Oh I wouldn't call myself a professional in any sense of the word...well not in as far as building steam locomotives is concerned, I think you'll find that you have far more experience than little old me.... Good luck with the build, I'm looking forward to seeing sound progress....now then Malcolm?....I must get in touch, not heard from him in a few months and he has a long outstanding list from me.... Pete
