I'll be going on the Friday in case anyone wants to say Hi and have a chat over a cup of tea. I'll try to find that badge I lovingly created and subsequently mislaid.

Will be on the Beech Hurst club stand all 3 days, (with the brake valve and grandfathers Single) if you fancy coming for a chat I am going to be on the Harrow Club Stand for the setting up and two days of stewarding. I hope the hall is not going to be as cold as two years ago. Standing around for hours on end with no heating was not much fun! Let us hope there will be stands and traders than last year!

I'm going there either Sat or Sunday but was going to wait and see if anyone from here will be meeting up and when, then hopefully going on that day. Sorry Roger I would have liked to have come down on Friday for that cup of tea, but I'm at work Thursday night. Maybe the next one! Tim.

Just got back from "Ali Pali" having helped to set up the club stand. They let us bring our van right into the hall, which meant much less strain moving all or stand bits and models. People were bringing in some very large models which I may get a chance to look over the next couple of days. Back again tomorrow to do the first shift on the stand ,so no bargain hunting for me. Must sit down tonight and sort out my final shopping list!

I've just returned from a very pleasant trip to Alexandra Palace. It was good to meet Tim and chat to Adam about his amazing fully functioning combined steam and vacuum brake valve which is even smaller than it looks in the photos. It wasn't at all busy, which made it much more pleasant rooting round the trade stands. It was good to see a SPEEDY chassis and take plenty of pictures of that. It looks like it's faithfully produced to the plans and looks very different to mine. I like to have plenty of reference photos of it even though that's not how mine's going to look. I find it useful to see a real life representation of the plans. I was chatting to Jerry who's building a gas turbine powered locomotive, and he's got some quite delicate spring hangers cast using the lost wax process. It seems to me that this is eminently suitable for casting locomotive wheels directly in steel.

I'm surprised it actually made it to national BBC1 though, is this a first I wonder. Jim S

Hi all, just back from the, Ali Pali and I was disappointed,to be fair one of the most popular loco is 5 inch Britannia and there wasn't a one, in fact models were very thin on the ground.

My trip to London for work was last minute and business was concluded by 12 so I thought I'm in London anyway so why not. Not sure I should have bothered. Not the best show I have seen by a long way. Most of the loco's on the club stands (bar a few). Looked like these three days would have been better spent in the paint shop. I also was surprised to see that all the loco's lined up to give rides were polly's. I have nothing against them but it would have been nice to see some others.
Moan over. The highlight for me was meeting Adam and seeing His combined steam and vacume valve it's tiny! It's hardly an inch tall well perhaps a bit more but not much!
Andrew

Geoff Carlisle. 2"" a I have to second that, I go to Ally every year and it gets thinner on the ground with regards to locos every time I go. On a positive note however It was great to meet Roger, and have a good chat Tim.
