hi greg,
i noticed the following on the ME forum site today from Henry Wood, designer of Emma Victoria 5"g loco being described over a very long period...
"To builders of Emma-Victoria, in M.E. No.4459 on page 49, the detail of the Eccentric Rod shows a set over of 1" from bearing C/L, this should read 1 1/2" to clear Return Crank swing."
your 1/16" problem is quite good when compared to the above 1/2" discrepancy!
cheers, julian

Yes sounds like I'm unappreciative of my minor issue. I've put the 1/16 packer between the cylinder and it looks good. The only issue is with the cylinder now sittingfurther out it doesn't sit under the running board because it's now flush with the outer edge. Looks like others found this problem. My solution will be to take 1/16" off the outer edge of the steam chest cover where it fouls. So I think I'm ok. These pics are not my engine, they're others that I found on the web. They were all unfinished engines.
