But is there room in the smokebox for even more pipework? Looks pretty congested already!

So, Just to clarify, My model has 2 radiant superheaters. The lubricating oil is introduced after the superheater and before the HP cylinders using a hidden displacement lubricator arrangement under the footplate. No sight glass to bother about. When it has passed through these cylinders the exhaust steam then goes on to power and lubricate the L.P. cylinder. The LBSC design bears only a superficial resemblance to a Webb compound. which is why I didn't use it.The main difference being that he shows the L.P. Cylinder offset to one side of the frames instead of on the centre line where it should be. It also has the L.P. Valve chest on the side of the cylinder instead of on top where it should be. I was fortunate to have been given a pile of copies of original works drawings from which I have tried to create this replica. The originals were not superheated so that is a deviation from original. I have now run the engine on the track at Hove Park with a lead weight on the foot plate where it pulled a couple of us round. After a very wet start it went (surprisingly) well. It takes a lap to warm through and blow out all the condensation then it stops, starts and runs like a conventional loco without having to use the L.P. Bypass valve. It will never be much of a passenger puller. I have now put it away until next spring when I plan to paint it. Also fitted lead ballast to the inside of the rear splashers.

Unfortunately, it looks like tinypics is no longer playing ball as I can not see any of your beautiful build photos.

I've got a 3 1/2" Jeanie Deans made to Lbsc's drawings, there's no way I can clean the tubes, I can barely get my fingers in the smokebox, I open the smokebox door put the loco in the workshop doorway facing out and blow through from the firebox with an airline, having made sure there's no washing on the line. sadly I can't see any of your photos either.

sadly I can't see any of your photos either. Yes, well that's because Tiny pics was free when I posted the pictures. Now they want me to pay. And I'm not going to pay the ransom money to release them!

I hope you still have the pictures on your own computer. You could post them on one of the other (free) sites and edit the links in your earlier posts to make them appear.
On the other hand, you may think that life is too short for all of that!

Just beautiful, especially for someone who says they don’t like railways!!! Chris Thank you Chris. A lot of the lining was applied using techniques I learnt from your book.

Hi Mike,
Thank you! Yes, I was admiring the painting and also the lining. How did you do the thick grey/white lines, they look very crisp and are much too tight radius to use a beugler roller tool.
Chris.

You are right, the Beugler is not much use here. The straight grey/white/black/red lines visible along the edge of the running boards and curved splashes were done using the Bob Moore lining pen with a home made adjustable edge guide as described in your book. The grey thick lines around the apertures in the splashers. Here I cheated here a bit. A friend drew them up in cad for me and I had them cut in very thin grey vinyl by a local firm. The type used to do vinyl wraps on cars. The nib of the lining pen then runs around the edge of the vinyl very nicely and easily. Unlike when you make a template, draw around it and then remove it. In this case the template becomes part of the job and stays on. The grey vinyl was a good match to the grey lining paint. For the boiler bands I made a wooden frame, then strung the band's out tight like the strings of a guitar. Spray painted them black. Then, again, run down both edges with the BM pen in red. A few years ago I built a 6" scale Ruston Proctor TE . The beugler was ideal for that.

That grey/white idea is very cunning.
I wonder if, with a different vinyl and printing, if you could have printed the white and grey and just used that. It doesn't matter for you now, as it is a finished and superb job. Just wondering out loud...
Chris.

That does look stunning Mike. Funny enough someone over at RMWeb forum posted that they had seen a Webb Compound from the Hove Park railway at the Brighton model railway exhibition this last weekend and I wondered if it was your finished example.
Regards,
Dan

As others have said: Amazing job! Regret the pictures are not available anymore but I do remember them and enjoyed studying them!
Quick question: What is the fitting on the backhead, left of regulator please?
