Another question im afraid. on the steam workshop site there is a centenary loco, they clearly state that the boiler is an odd design in so far that the backhead is a single plate affair, is this permissible or was the boiler designed that way?

Hi George. I have a plan for the boiler which clearly shows a 1/2" water gap at the backhead. I also have a part built boiler for Centenery which has a water gap, but closer to 1/16 inch I reckon. Perhaps there is something odd with the other measurements. I will be happy to send you a scan of my drawing - model engineer 5 June 1998 if you want it

Thank you.but if the boiler on the one I looked at is not acceptable I can't afford to have another boiler built.its a shame really they are a nice looking loco and there wouldn't be much to do to it.
Regards
George

Yes I have had my eye on it - I got quite excited when I realised I had a boiler for it, until I filled it with water. Leaks from everywhere! Scrap copper I guess.
