Some time ago I saw a video of locomotives running on a track that a section more than 1 meter removed , the locos run without derailing , these are full size locos I am talking about . After seeing that this doesn't seem outrageous .

Hi Shawki There is a short YouTube clip showing wartime experiments to derail trains by removing sections of track using explosives. A bit of an eye-opener... Jim S www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-8gV4DJZUw

Jim That is very interesting film showing just how big a gap the wheels will cross. As usual with youtube that link goes on to another wartime one that is just as interesting ..and that goes on to a BBC 1972 documentary that details the development of rail safety in signalling on British Railways. This I found to be fascinating, but is possibly well known to those of you with a railway training. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s9Ey5VLJr4Norm

Yes, the BBC documentary is fascinating. Thanks for flagging it up. An updated version would be interesting viewing.
