Hi friends from NZ
With some upcoming travel, I notice from an Atlas I am studying that there is a "Miniature Railway" at Ngongotaha on the shores of Lake Rotorua.
Is it one that any of you are involved in? Where else are the tracks that run steam loco's?

Hi Norm, Here you go, www.pnmec.org.nz/meanzmap.htmThis lists all the member clubs in NZ. Some don’t have websites....but still give you locations. The one you mentioned isn’t part of the association as it’s a commercial operation .....I think! Probably wrong! There are a few like it around the country. The one on The Coromandel, it’s part of a pottery enterprise is worth a visit, great views. Any other questions let me know & I see what I can find out for you. Oh when are coming over? Cheers Kerrin

Thanks Kerrin,
That's great. At the moment geysers, crayfish and wine are on the priority find list and I doubt that management will permit 5" railways, but I have the list and we might accidentally stumble upon one.
Norm.

Hi Norm, Here’s a link to the pottery Railway...... www.drivingcreekrailway.co.nz. You should be able to get away with a visit ....after all you only want to see the pottery...oh look they’ve got a Railway... & if crayfish is on the list the Coromandel has great mussels & oysters. Chris, the link you posted isn’t the Railway Norm mentioned there were 2 in Rotorua, the link you posted, which is the model engineering one & the Ngongotaha one which is council, I think, run. I’ve driven past it but not ridden on it as it wasn’t operating at the time. Cheers Kerrin

Norm
Where do you plan to go and we can then suggest some subtle detours?
