I spotted this advert for an EMCO Super 11 lathe, as I fancied a change of scenery over my excellent Maximat V10P. The only difference is that the Super 11 has 1" extra swing, and 5mm more on the spindle bore. Talking to Howard revealed a friendly chappie, until he asked for £5500 for the lathe. When I mentioned the marginal difference over my V10P was not worth £3000+, the conversation took a turn for the worse... I declined. You pays your money and takes your choice! Howard is a friendly chap but his prices are way high compared to the norm just look at his steam models. You are unlikely to find a bargain. However he is in business so if he can sell at the prices he asks good luck to him. He is a very shrewd seller in my experience.

I had a glance at this the other night??? I am a Compact 8 E owner and have done much rebuilding of the machine to get it working well! I have a second Raglan 5 which has all these specifications and more with the FASTEST Saddle Stop in the WEST. It is like a gun going off and is actuated by an adjustable stop. Power crossfeed, one inch bore, variable speed, Gearbox, A BIT RUSTY, hardened bed, (No Tailstock but I could make one as the other Raglan shows me what is needed) and was £200.00. And then I paid him more as it came with boxes and boxes of bits of metal...
His Loco collection has not moved in months on the Myford site!!!
The pair of Raglans are now DEMANDING A WORKSHOP EXTENSION!!! Oh what I saved.

That's the chap I bought my Tender from. I visited his home to collect it and the wonderful models spilling from every surface were a real joy. He was keen to talk about them right up until I had handed over my money, and then I was effectively herded out the door!

To be honest, I think that is a reasonable price for a quality machine in that condition. It's sold now so someone else thought the same!

Well I purchased a Super 7 at full asking price earlier this year from a guy near London. The quality and care the machine he had in his care made it worth the money. Wonderfully he kept me in mind for some brass sheet he has found. And the boxes of bits he included had many spare bits of simplex castings which have come in handy!
