There was some discussion recently (Dec. 13, 2020) about drawings for Vale of Rheidol locomotives in the 'Paddington Platework' thread.
There are some drawings available from National Railway Museum. From their Swindon Drawings list:
Drawing nos.
96396 Arrangement & detail of brake gear, Vale of Rheidol engine nos 7 & 8 (1923) 65449 Belpaire boiler, Vale of Rheidol 2-6-2 class (1923) 136127 Nameplates for Vale of Rheidol Locos nos 7,8,9 (1956)
Following on Roll no.532: Q [2-4-0T] Vale of Rheidol engine no 3 2-4-0 T; Cambrian diagram no 15, Engine Diagram: Engine no 1198 X [2-6-2T] Vale of Rheidol engine nos 1 & 2, 2-6-2 T, Cambrian diagram no 14, Engine Diagram: Engine nos 1212 - 13
Something to start with & almost certainly other drawings that more sophisticated search may find.
Regards,
Phil

Many thanks Phil,
I was aware of the NRM drawings of the Swindon locos, although (with the exception of the brake gear) they won't help much with designing a steam model. What I was really after was the contact point at Didcot for their collection of drawings as my initial email, sent via the GWS website< got no reply and others seemed to have been more successful.
Of course, the GWS may not have any VoR drawings but it seemed worth another try.
But you detailed response is much appreciated.

For Didcot the address to use is info@didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk this should be passed on to the relevant person. If you don't get a reply let me know and I will try and find out why. Baldric.

Hi all,
We have a majority of drawings from the GWR Rheidol Locomotives as were passed on from BR in privatisation. Recently we have been sorting and digitising drawings in our archive.
Please drop me a pm and I can send an available drawing list.
Regards James

I've had quite a lot of contact, with Didcot, over drawings, over the last couple of years. My contact is Kevin Dare. k.dare@tiscali.co.uk at Didcot Railway CentreHe bis extremely helpful, and knowledgeable about what is available. If you PM me your email address, I will email you a copy of the Didcot drawing register of their archived drawings. It is an Ecell file so searching is easy. Bob.

Regards, Phil Hi, I was trying to build a 3D model for printing in OO9 (1:87) scale and have been hunting for dimensions and drawings. I tried to search based on your comment but couldn't find the drawings - just an Excel sheet that mentioned the drawing numbers. Could you help me get to the drawings please?

Hello 'Tinkertenor', The drawings I referenced are available to order from the National Railway Museum. Download their list of 'Swindon Drawings' for further info'. I suspect that these drawings would be of very limited use indeed for your purposes. For your usage I would have thought that a source such as ' The Vale of Rheidol in Detail' would, along with similar resources, have suitable drawings. I suspect that the small-scale popular Railway Modelling magazines have published drawings in the past. The Vale of Rheidol railway itself may be able to assist and direct you as to drawing sources - I suspect that yours is a relatively common quest! Regards & best of luck, Phil
