Good morning and a Happy (?) New Year to all of you.
Please tell me what are the cylindrical objects on either side of the smoke box on the Hunslet pictured below.
I am guessing either Sand boxes or valve gear oil reservoirs. Any other suggestions?
Cheers

That isn't a Hunslet. It is a Fairley. Possibly sand boxes?

With Andy on this one.
Ffestiniog Fairlie and definitely sand boxes

Definitely sandboxes - as designed and made at Boston Lodge.
Lots of information in the superb (if pricey) history of the FR locos, "Little Giants" by Chris Jones and Peter Dennis.

Thank you gentlemen.
I lifted the pic off the FR website. Of course it's not a Hunslet, now you tell me.
