You probably won't find much about painting zinctec, for one simple reason. In industry, it's used because it doesn't have to be painted.
Look inside photo-copiers, printers and the like. You'll usually find that the mechanical bits not made from plastic are made from unpainted zinctec.

In the Hi-Fi manufacturing world we used to use Epoxy based paints but if you contact a specialist paint supplier they will probably recommend an etch primer. At one time the steel window frames were Zinc plated, in effect Zintec - trade name by the way, and they were etch primed.

G'day Keith
I agreee with Sir Ian Clip, use an etch primer. I specifiy electrtical panels made of zinc plated steel (furniture grade) and always specify an etch primer before undercoat/surfacer. I have discussed my requirements with panel manufactures to ensure this is the best approach to a durable surface.
Regards, Ian

Chromate primers should be used on zintec I believe.
