Surfing around looking for engines I came accross "Netta" by LBSC. I like its uncluttered look and according to the net it has been published in every gauge anyone can need. Again according to the net it has been published in ME in 1954.
- does anyone have those plans/words/music? - would this be a good engine to start in 3.5" after doing gauge 1? - any other toughts or remarks on it?

I've always liked the look of this one too. An occasional visitor to our club track sometimes brings a 5" Netta and it pulls and pulls and pulls. Allegedly gets little maintenance. A 3.5 won't be so powerful, but should still be a good one.

Hi Havoc, If no-one else can help I have the ME's with the construction series which I could scan for you. I think Netta is quite a pretty little engine and being 8 coupled should be quite powerful. Looks a straightforward build with no complications. Here's a pic of a 2½" gauge version that regularly runs at our rallies. John

They are an old design, but a tried and tested one.
You can, if you wish, add bits or modify, to make it more like a "real" T class, if you tend towards the "rivet counter".
I am not aware of any major problems, and all those I have seen seem to run and run, and run. It was described in gauges 0 to 5", and the ME articles can get slightly confusing if one doesnt take care to make the correct part for the gauge you are building.
I have often wondered if anyone has built all of them. Would make an interesting display, if nothing else.

Yes - a nice little bus! I have one in 3½". If you send me a personal email I will send you some stuff (my email unhidden). I have a list of ME articles and the articles. Reeves do drawings and bits here (have to paste into browser for some reason) .... vault1.secured-url.com/reeves2000/shop_item.asp?sub_cat_id=30

Thanks for the offers, I'll get in touch.
Lovely, just what I want. If it can pull a person in 2.5" then it should work in 3.5" as well. Pulling a few kids (me being one of them) would be fine.
Since I'm no rivet counter the original drawings will be fine. I looked at all the bits Reeves has and having the wheels around is a great thing as well. But I'll try making the rest.
Am I right that this is one of the few goods engines modeled? Apart from industrial ones and a few shunters that could run a goods when needed.
Just one other question: could you paint it in some "bright" colour without hurting reality too much? I'm not fond of black...

It comes in NER green which is about the shade of the green bits on this blog.

Am I right that this is one of the few goods engines modeled? Apart from industrial ones and a few shunters that could run a goods when needed. There are more main line goods models than you'd expect ... BR 9F Evening Star J39 (Stratford ?!) LMS 8F (Euston ?!) Derby 4F R.O.D. 2-8-0 GC Pom-Pom 0-6-0 L&Y Aspinall 0-6-0 LNER O1 2-8-0 (Nigel Gresley !?) Dean goods Not sure if there was a GWR 2-8-0 I'm guessing that there are more Nettas built than anything else though. Excellent choice IMHO, Cheers

Oh, so I gave away my ignorance of british goods engines...
The green looks good. The rest can wait until I had a good look at the plans and read the articles.
