As the title suggest, does anyone know the PCD of the three fixing holes on the Warco BV-20 chuck backing plate. I am making a holder to enable me to mount the 3 and 4 jaw chucks on my mill rotary table, but am not able to accurately measure the diameter of the mounting hole circle. If someone knows then I can just feed the data into the DRO and get it right first time!!!
Thanks in advance...
Russell.

Why can't you ask Warco?

If you buy a copy of ZEUS it shows you how to work out the PCD from the triangular measurements. I just find it a little sad that despite DRO bells and whistles basic maths still seems to be needed, I remember doing this in geometry despite it being over fifty years ago.

If you are a DRO man, I assume you have a rotary table ... Centre your rotary table under the spindle of the mill. Mount the chuck back-side up, central to the rotary table and using a digital hole finder (which I'm sure you also have), find the centre of one of the holes in the back of the chuck.
Now crank the handles and look at the DRO's and it will tell you the radius of the holes from the centre - multiply that by 2 for the PCD

Russell I think if you measure the distance between the hole centres accurately (D) you can calculate from:
PCRadius = D/2 * cos(30)

Managed to do it this morning, anyone interested the PCD is 82mm diameter with three holes at 5/16" for the Warco BV-20. Or this is what worked for me...
