Greetings all, I don't want to sound negative here, but I tend to think these calculations might fall apart as the condition of the reamer deteriorates and if you are going to seriously chase tolerances in the tens of thousandths of an inch, it might be easier in the long run to start internal grinding and/or lapping and remember, the reamer will tend to follow a drilled hole whether or not it is straight and writing a tolerance on a drawing and having the capacity to measure it accurately and consistently are two entirely different occupations. If only engineering was that simple.... Regards, Ian.

Fair point. I have trouble working to the nearest inch but thought someone might find it useful.

Well I did, thanks Paul. Only this week I was wondering how much meat to leave in the coupling rod bushes on my Rob Roy before pressing into place and reaming in situ and the link answered my question, after I mentally rounded all the tenths of a thou stuff.
