Hi all
I wounder if anyone can help me with this problem. I am planning to build a 5" gauge model of a Stewerts and Lloyds locomotive. these loco's were based at Corby works mines department and were large 0-6-0 st's. the loco is very similar to a 0-6-0 Austerity, I have tried to get plans for this loco but have had on luck. Can anybody tell me where I can get a set of plans for a 5" gauge 0-6-0 Austerity.
Many thanks
Jack

Pretty much all the inside cylindered 0-6-0's had the same internals and there are loaads of well proven designs out there. For the outline, Camden do a sort of 'parts list" for the Austerity, which should give you plenty to go on.

If it is one of the "Uglies" that you are thinking of building, these were not that much like an Austerity - longer wheelbase for a start. You might be better off looking for a inside cylinder 0-6-0 tender prototype to base the chassis on.

I have always thought the "Austerity" to be an absolutely dreadful name for a class of locos . . . so depressing sounding. I would not have been at all surprised had someone decided they should be followed by the well known "Bereavement" class or the significantly improved "Agony" class. :-)
