Hi All, On leaving the hall at Harrogate show by the side exit, I bought a bag of steam coal from the guy at the lorry next to the traction engines. Signal Fuels from Ripley, Derbyshire. Have any of you used it and can comment on it's suitability?
Cheers,
Ian.

Just don't tell Dr John or he will be kickin' your door in!

Assuming it's the same stuff I bought a couple or three years ago, it's excellent. I've bought a new bag too but haven't tried it yet!

Hi Ian,
most of the guys in our club use it with no problems. It seems to burn well enough.
I have used it for Helen but find that sometimes it's not quite hot enough to keep her in steam for long runs, so I use it mixed with anthracite for a bit more oomph. That's probably due to the small grate and large cylinders though.

Thanks for that guys, and John, I thought you might have come across it as it's from your neck of the woods. All very reassuring.....apart from Tel's idea that DJ might kick my door in to get some decent coal. Ian.
