What a difference being ad free makes to the speed of selection of a topic. None of the never ending adclick. etc which seems to take forever before the subject of interest appears. Either that of the Forum is on a new faster server, either way let it stay like that please

Dead right John, much quicker. Trouble is, it appears to me that ads pay for most of the Internet, so is it a price worth paying? JB

banners and ad's are one thing, but that banner we had, when you had your mouse travel over it going from one place to the other, then have the ad go almost full screen, is 100% downright rude.

Make the most of it, they'll be back as soon as Proboards have sorted out recent problems caused by some of the ad networks Unfortunately as JB says, the ads do pay for boards like this one so they can continue to be free to use. John

I Hadn't noticed.
I haven't seen any adds here for a couple of years now.
it's amazing how much faster sites load since someone suggested the add blocker add on for firefox.
Bloody hell, now I'm starting to sound like an advert myself.....

Ads are back !!! , Anyway , they don't bother me , I just ignore them . The trouble is that when the response on this board is as slow as it is at this moment, you don't know whether it's ads, or traffic, or the PC, or what ! P.S. (Later) I've just downloaded Railway Herald 15 M in no time at all, and proboards is still slow.

Just a single of those ad servers or metric counters that is slow is enough to slow everything as the browser waits for it. It won't get better...

I open the site in few seconds and change pages in seconds , what is slow ? Seconds ? Minutes? Longer ? I am retired , time is not important as long as is not long enough to bore me .

Many of these ad servers behave differently depending on your location so Shawki may get a fast response while Peter has to wait for a slow ad server. Suggest, Peter, that you follow Havoc's earlier suggestion and look at www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm it speeds things up no end. Regards, Russell.

I'm with Shawki here (although, sadly, I'm not yet retired), no noticeable delays. I also don't notice them when they are here.

I'm with Shawki also I couldn't see any difference whether there is an ad at the top or not. Could it be because my system doesn't allow popups.
