Hi all, This photo shows the method i used to hold the top of the handrails to the roof. several methods could be used and you see the way BR fitted them by the photo that Mike took. in this case the back plate is 1/16th" brass with a piece of copper tube 3/16th OD x1/8th ID silver soldered on. I've had more enjoyment building the cab than any other part of the loco. Geoff (Carlisle).

Hi all, a lot of M.E.s building A j.P.Britannia, would like me obtained 3/16"x 3/16"x 1/32" brass angle for the rain strips on the roof only to find these were far too large. Looking at photos of the full size loco's, they were very small so maybe somewhere around 1/8" x 1/8" x 1/32" would be better but no bigger.

Hi Geoff, I used K&S 1/8 x 1/8 x .014 brass angle for mine....it’s still slightly overscale but looks the part. Google it and you will find it available from a number of places eg Ebay.
Cheers Don

Hi Geoff,
To make things easier for me when assembling I cut the cab handrails at a point mid way through the 2 upper handrail knobs. That way I can remove the roof or sides without having to dismantle the handrails. When in place the joints are hidden inside the handrail knob. It's just a thought.

Hi Geoff
Check out Hobby holidays, they come up on Google. They do a large selection of brass angle. Also Metalsmiths that we mentioned earlier on your thread to a large range of milled angle which will have a nice sharp profile.

I have a man like that: trouble is, I think he's a member of the 2 1/2" club, so he's no use to me. Oops, what am I saying?

'Jim Mitchell from Oz?
Crikey Geoff that can't be me all dolled up like that! What happened to me lid with the corks on? and me flanny shirt? Don't tell me you've used it to wipe down the lathe. The trouble and strife has be at me for years to get rid of it and get a new one and just when I got it to smell right! The dog won't know me in a new flanny.
Geez Geoff, you've been had mate. Best you give that bludger on the foot plate the old heave ho.
If you have any probs give us a bell and I'll pop over with the dog, we'll sort him.

Hello, We've got Jim Mitchell from OZ examining the regulator, just when I heard a swoosh and guess what, Shawki Shlemon Jim's friend having just flown in with a long range jet pack. Just to see what Jim was up to. Geoff (Carlisle)

Hi all, Geoff here, can anyone tell me what the drill size is for 1/2"x32 tpi, as I don't have that information , and it's drilling phos-bronze in the lathe, not much fun.
