Truly works of art and a credit to their builder. They've been advertised elsewhere at 80k for several months and I'm surprised that the locos haven't sold yet - perhaps because they are to be sold together. Now if they were a Castle, Hall and Manor! Ray.

Just a word of caution. Jesse was a member of Southampton when I joined 22 years ago and I had a loose web on my Johnson single. He offered to pin it and did so. Only problem was the pin fell out as it was not in straight. The webs were buggered. Perhaps he had a bad day but I did learn how to make a new axle and webs and to quarter them. So in some respects he led me to a useful lesson but on the other hand drilling in straight should have been in his arsenal I think! Cheers david

After selling a few engines over time I have discovered that there are two prices for an engine ,first , what is worth and second is what will people pay for it because is not an essential item such as a car or home or even a TV , it is a toy after all , not to mention one has to convince the PARTNER .

Selling them as one lot must be limiting the potential purchasers somewhat. Richard

I also think that selling them as a single item is holding back potential interest... for that price there are some parts in the country that you could get a house for less and in a world with rising costs it will be difficult to sale these.
I wish the owner good luck in his/her sale though

He seemed to me to be questioning the ability, rather than starting a competition on who has known the maker longest.

Tony you have it in one!! My only point is that his engines looked great. Around 1990, he had a 2-6-4T, I think that was the wheel arrangement, a newish BR sort of thing. It was lovely and I could have been proud of it had I bought it! My experience on the other hand was that at that time, I was a complete novice and he offered to pin the inside webs on my single axle loco as one appeared loose. Later I found that the pin went into the top of the web in the middle of the web and came out on one side. The whole thing fell apart shortly thereafter. The result was that I had to make a completely new axle (3 goes) and web assembly and I was able to save the valve gear eccentrics. Scared the pants of me taking it all apart but by following the instructions in the model engineer I was able to remake the axle and press on the wheels and reset the valve gear and it worked. What a baptism of fire but a great learning curve to climb up. Jesse did me a service in making me fix my own engine.
My message was simple, before you buy the car look under the bonnet! Nuff said.
Cheers David

Relisted with a much lower starting price.

£23000 per loco seems a tad more reasonable especially for a brand new one. It does seem a bit steep for a pair of used ones though (and Eastleigh Lakeside is quite a demanding track, I know, I've done it!).

I see that they didnt sell. Perhaps, as has been said, due to all of them being combined in one listing.
As for the quality of work, errors or anything else, I am sure that anyone buying them would want to check them out beforehand. Perhaps even get an engineer to check them on his/her behalf. That wouldnt be unreasonable when spending that amount.
