Does anybody know a source of Baker's Paste in the Buxton area? The usual source, Williamson's in Stockport, has ceased trading and nobody else seems to stock it.

If you mean Active Paste Flux - rather than solder paste consisting of flux containing particle of solder - Fluxite is the same stuff.
Baker's Flux Paste and Fluxite are both readily available "on-line".
With the demise of the traditional high-street or back-lane "Hardware" shop and tool-shops, I find on-line is the easiest way of souring products that "the average man on the Clapham omnibus" no longer knows how to use.
Alternatively, I buy at the ME Exhibitions (if I can wait that long)

Hi Nick,
The La-Co flux (I always thought it was La-Col but I'm not going back out to check right now) has the most awful smell to it so it's fluxite for me. Soft soldering doesn't work too well with puke all over it!

I use Coraline flux paste for my soft soldering needs, have never had any problems with it, it's very effective.

Thanks for the advice I will see what can be found. I no longer do any payments over the net having been 'skimmed and flushed' for 1500 Euros, but being Italy the case is still ongoing after 2 years...
