Ok Alan, it's the 1100Watts that tells you the size of motor you're going to need, but there's no harm in fitting a bigger one if it will go in. Ideally leave room on the end to attach a small mains axial fan.
Take a look on eBay and see what motors you can find and then have a good look at the mechanical suitability of them. It would be handy to find one with the same fixing holes, shaft diameter and foot to centre dimensions but it's unlikely. Picking up a drive to suit will be easy but you might find a deal on one of those sites proposed earlier for a motor/drive combo purchase.

Ironically I've had to stop work finishing off fitting new gutters to the combined Porch canopy and workshop roof ---- as it's raining cats and dogs !!!...so continued with repairs on the Craftsman Lathe....Eventual removal of the carriage top to investigate a rumbling in the apron gearbox produced this >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ............................................ and whilst in the mood lets find out why the headstock spindle is "Lumpy" as well >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"1923 minus 1908 = 15 !!"
Don't worry Pete. He'll be ok after a good night's rest. Shock to the system you know....finding that your Grand Daddy is in fact your elder brother!! I'm still left working out why one would wish to stand Simplex on Bear's soleplate.
Oh, Morning Alan...is that you?
Don.

------------ meanwhile, as I'm getting Cadbury ready for a "New to our Club" Inspection, I thought it would be a good idea to assemble some of that portable track I bought recently ready for when I put a fire in it-------alas the bad weather beat me, but here's my efforts for the day ( includes power sanding the paint of the rail head.....it's brand new and unused !!).......

Just at the time that there possibly will be a shortage of chocolate in the future!!! Katie is addicted but Lily doesnt like it much. I always remember looking out for the Cadburys railway route on the way into Birmingham! Slow in pre HST days nice sounds up the incline though!
Time to Bear your simple sole to a plate of Cadburys!

Hello all--------------I've just been out in "A" Shop putting up yet MORE shelves and remembered that this loco transporter box is full of part-machined items for The Great Bear...........The outer end panel is removed and the access ramp lowered......You can also see the two lifting handles inserted into their eyes....At the other end is a pair of small wheels which enables you to then lift and cart around in the same manner as a wheelbarrow..... I have two for tank engines or a tender and one larger for Tender locos ( 4-6-0 etc.... Used that one for the "Parallel Scot" )............

Trouble is there isn't much in the way of major production planned at the moment.....The Chester Craftsman Lathe is having upgraded headstock bearings fitted ( and the wrong ones have had to be returned etc--etc).................. The Warco mill won't be here until late March/early April---and then will need fitting, commissioning ( and the operator will need to go on an upgrade course !!) -- so that's May before it even starts to challenge Roger for "Swarfmaker-of-the-Year" title............The Boiler is currently on target for completion at about the same time ( I'm asking for some progress photos so might be able to post those ). ...............Meanwhile Swindon "A" shop is totally committed to seeing Cadbury ready for steam test on Boxing Day at Kinver, followed by (Hopefully) the NCB Simplex on New Year's Day... That's still in ticket - I think ?? ....Having a look at that photo and just checking on the various bits sculling around I could start an "Evening Project" and see if I can put the bogie together over the Winter period.............. It'll be an indoor job so nice and warm !!...........Cheers Ben, I'll start that over this week-end........It'll be boring to view as it's only a standard Swindon bogie with working cast leaf springs !! ie}--- coil springs within the leaf casting.....

OK---------Recently I spent 2 days just re-calculating, drawing and constructing card templates for the smokebox draughting including many, many e-mails to and from good friend Julian................ .................................................................................................................. Here's the chimney ( From a dismantled 5" King and found on E-Bay for £15---Call it an "outside contractor" made item if you like ??..........Will be de-painted and re-sprayed at the appropriate time .... The drink was on sale in Aldi last year !! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a trial loose alignment of the cylinders etc. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> .-------------------------------------------------- This afternoons efforts.. The NCB Simplex smokebox has gone from this >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ----------------------------------------------- To this >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> --------------------------------------------------- Another night's soaking in Paraffin should see it back into serviceable condition
