Not what you might think folks, I know this might be seriously off topic, but there is a connection to model engineering On U Tube there is a video of the ''Fleet'' Corliss model engine in full gallop, any photographers or dark room technicians out there think it possible to get shots of the video into PHOTO SHOP so that I might be able to ''TWEAK'' them and see them as ''stills''and be able to adjust the lighting e/t/c.

It will be possible to do this with the right video software. I've just had a play using Media Player Classic (which is available on the net as a free download) and one of my own videos. MPC allows you to pause a video and save the still image as a bitmap which you can then open in any photo software and edit to your hearts content. I am sure some of the other video players will also allow you to do this but I don't think the option is available in the normal Windows Media Player (I can't find it anyway!). The You Tube videos are usually pretty poor quality though so any stills will probably be very blurred.
The main problem however seems to be how to save the video on your PC! Perhaps you would be best to contact the chap who posted the videos and see if he is willing to send you copies unless some one else knows how to do it. Be careful of any copyright issues though!

I will have to have a serious think about that one Baggo, I run Win 2000 prof, and the introduction of any new software especially ''freeware'' can in some cases have wicked and evil effects on the system, I already run standard win media and as you say it does not have that capability. John.

John, a couple of programs that you might find useful: VirtualDub www.virtualdub.org/StreamClip www.squared5.com/SuperC www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.htmlI've never had any joy with the last but the first two are excellent. If you use Firefox (browser) there's a plug-in called Downloadhelper that will save videos from Youtube etc to file on your PC.

To capture the current screen image you can just press Shift-Print Screen (the button at the top right of the keyboard, at least on my Dell) which copies the bitmap to the Windows clipboard. You can then open Windows Paint or any other editing software and press Ctrl V to paste the bitmap into it. You can then edit and save the parts of the image that you want.
Regards, John
