Hi Folks,
Can anyone give any images and specifications for lagging and cleading stationary boilers. I have a 3 1/2" boiler running a Stuart horizontal and an unidentified vertical engine, but there is a lot of heat being lost from the bare boiler. I am interested in ending up with a timber barrel segment exterior and expect that there will be an insulation layer between the boiler outer and wood. Your suggestions and images would be appreciated.
Many thanks, Dave

You could just use the wood, it's what full size traction engine boilers were lagged with.

Hi Dave , Ever on the scrounge,I was in one of the local ''eateries'' with the family happened to be holding one of the coffee stirring sticks...'' these would be perfect for my boiler '' so I had a word or two with some of the staff and departed homewards with a box full. Another Perfect day......John.

These sticks are a favourite in the Pump House for mixing up powdered flux, an applying the mix to components for soldering.
