Just back from harrogate and never saw a single badge !!
There again, I was probably too busy looking at stands and models to notice.
For thos interested in subjects "non-steam" there are some absolutely stunning WW2 model ships

Hello Jack,
Not been home long myself, I didn't see a badge either! Saying that, mine hasn't arrived yet but I was on the look out! Some of the ships on display are really stunning, as often heard before, I don't think I'd have the patience! But then again! Might be an idea to arrange a meeting time at the next do, save me (us) tripping over people and standing on feet whilst we search for a badge! There was some nice stuff there, the trade stands began to wear thin after a while though, much of a muchness!
Regards and sorry to have missed you,
Waggy.

Don't be disappointed! We really don't need a badge to meet up, couple of years ago I met up with The_Viffer and Dave Beaman, just arranged a time and place through the site. Perhaps the trouble is, so many different people wear so many different badges and pins, without actually seeing one or having your own they can be easily missed. I think the next show for me will be the Midlands, we'll make firmer arrangements nearer the time.

Thanks for you reply ,waggy, iwasn't really disappointed i was hoping after all the hype and shout about the badges i might have been able to put afew faces to the handles used on here, but , it was not to be. I guess the badges were a little failure, a great pitty after all the enthusiasm in these pages over the recent weeks and after all the work put in by our leader.
Sorry mate but i will not be at the midlands show. a 300 mile round trip is just a little too far for me these days, but maybe we, and, others from this group can meet up,andhave a chin wag soon at another show, or gathering.
After all that it was a damn good show at harrogate as usual, with some 1st class models on show.

Now Now "steamy" don't be despondant The badges definitely were not a failure Although the ships passed in the night, I did notice that numerous people paying more than a casual interest in mine. Therefore it is obviously quite distinctive and only needs time for it to bring at least some of the team together. Jack

I was one of the first people to order but so far I have not received mine probably because I am in Australia and may take some time . We must be patient as the recognition of badges takes time , even some people may have it and put it on yet . I am confident that over time it will be recognized and will serve the purpose it is designed for . ;D

Guys , Iam not dispondent, nor, disappointed with the badges. My disappointment was in the fact i never saw one displayed at Harrogate on Friday from openning time to closing time. In that respect they failed in their intention ON THIS OCCASION. Maybe they will be more successful next time around, I CERTAINLY HOPE SO I will continue to wear it where ever i go on my travels give me a kick (not too hard i'm fragile), if you see me I very much look forward to meeting other members of this forum.

Jackrae, Ships passing ? There were too many of em to pass each other, i felt quite seasick walking around the bottom end of the hall. But they made a damn good display, didn't they? All in all a very good show in all classes Roll on next year

Hi all
I was at Harrogate on Friday with badge and a 50mm badge on my back pack, but must admit to spending most of my time looking at stalls and models not looking for badges. Consider the maximum number of badges there on any day by the total no of people and its a bit of a lottery. A meet point and time at each venue would probably be a start. My bet is if you keep wearing the badge we will bump into each other in some unlikely places not necessarily associated with Model Engineering. It will also be useful when visiting other clubs. Anyone going to the Bristol Show, the Great Dorset Steam Fair, Midlands Federation Rally, SEQLEC, or the Midland Show.
Have you put a link to this site on your club web site?
Hope to meet some of you soon.
Steve

Steve M W,
I'm likely to be at the Bristol Show on our club stand and maybe even the Midland show. If I get to show the club loco I get to go in for free ;D.
I might also pop into the 2-1/2" visit to the Cheltenham SME this Saturday (19th May).
Given the number of badges out there (maybe given the number made), the number of folk at a show times the days open the chances of ever seeing another badge has to be remote. Maybe there should be a prize offered for the first documented encounter.
Maybe we should supplement the badge with a six foot helium balloon with the same logo.

I saw a badge but the wearer was in the queue on the dog leg coming back and way ahead of me and disappeared into the payment booth about ten mins before I got through. After that I didn’t see him or anyone else with one on.

I had one on my jacket and one on my backpack and never saw another either but it will happen somewhere even if its a steam fair or museum etc. I would suggest one or two meeting times at the next big event say at 11:30 and / or 15:00 for coffee/ beer.
