I'm looking for a drawing of cylinder drain cocks for my 5"g Metre Maid". The book or drawings don't show them. Apart from the fact that they seem a fairly simple item to make,I also prefer to make as much as possible myself. Some people say I'm too miserable to buy them, but I refute that suggestion ;D.I'm just careful with my pocket money. Googling "cylinder drain cocks"wasn't much help, nor the ME index. If anybody knows of such a drawing, please kick me in the right direction. Many thanks,Hans.

Automatic Drain cocks were covered in volume 197 page 553.
For more traditional lever drain cocks: Try Martin Evans drawings from the super simplex 16th June 1989 page 780.

Hans good on you make whatever you like ,it is good fun and satisfaction . when I made mine , I made a taper reamer from silver steel hardened and tempered and the same time with the same setting I made many taper shafts from bronze and save them in a tin .Now you can make as many as you like as you have the reamer and many shafts , the rest are easy . To make the reamer choose the correct size silver steel, machine the taper then file the end at 30 degrees ,harden and temper, sharpen the cutting edge on a stone .keep it with shafts for future use .I did this 25 years ago and still using the reamer and the shafts .
