Just for a change I didn't spend the day working at the club yesterday....instead I spent it at the Chairman's house welding up a diamond crossing for the track extension! Thought you might like to see the progress. All the rail sections were previously cut and machined by the Wednesday gang, all we had to do was drill 40 something holes in the plate to allow welding from behind, then weld it up! Load more holes drilled in it for hanging when it goes for galvanizing, and also some holes for screwing to timbers when it's installed. Shan't be needed for probably another 2 years, depending on the enthusiasm of the track gang, but once they get stuck in to building points, they won't have time to make this, and without this, we'll have all the points, but still won't be able to run! Get it made and welded up and galvanized now, and it can go into store until it's required....quite likely the Chairman and I will also be busy building something else when they come to want this as well!

Thats impressive, and the element of forward planning is to be commended.

Thanks, sure was glad to get it finished...not as easy as you might first think getting all the bits in the right place so it's to gauge and all straight!
