Hi - Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain compatible gas cylinders for the now defunct butane Taymar blow lamp? I understand that the company went to the wall some years ago but it would be useful to bring back into use a perfectly serviceable burner. Reg [a href="http:// "]link[/a]

Some further information. The torch is a Taymar Model No. LFB900 designed to take Taymar butane gas cartridge No. RF89. Googling the query indicates that the product has been 'delisted' whilst other sites suggest a possible range of alternatives but before buying it would be reassuring to know what others users have found to be satisfactory.

Green..
Do what I did and pop down to B&Q and buy a new modern blowlamp that includes a piezo-igniter and also fits the currently available gas cans.
As an owner of a modern blowlamp you could also try the new gas cans against the old unit. I recall from my own Taymar blowlamp the gas fitting is very similar to the new cans but I didn't bother to persue it because the new kit is so much better with the piezo igniter.

You should be able to find a modern one that fits. Think I got mine from Wickes.

The gas I've got is a butane propane mix which may not work as well in older burners. Also just noticed the unit I have quotes as having a gas connection compatible with other kit. The fitting being described as EN417. Finally, if you are going to update your kit and buy from B&Q don't forget the oldy discount on Wednesdays (other providers available). You could just buy a new can of gas and then decide what to do next.

Have just along to Jewsens and bought a Sievert Powergas 2203 canister which has solved the problem. Thanks for all the support.
