A thrilling afternoon painting the outside of the new workshop… tomorrow I'll be starting to insulate and line out the inside. Fun! Would rather be making swarf! I have some, let me have your postcode!! D PS Not paint but swarf

No work today! Took a day's summer holiday. All day at the club track , where had an open day for a visit from members of the Colchester Club. Great crowd of people and all had a good time running locos and drinking tea. (I played I.C Track, but neglected to wear my official orange "flack jacket") Local young" intellectuals" nipped over the fence to jam a coke can in the track to cause a derailment. (Was spotted fortunately) Day started with heavy rain showers and ended up with some of us getting sunburnt skin! Back to work tomorrow to face the real world!

No time in the workshop today sadly but I had a fairly good excuse as I decided I would attend my graduation from Brunel University. I can now no longer use the excuse 'but I'm a student.....' Into the working world I go! Adam

polished the car, did a little reprogramming of the MAP to increase fuel delivery for high load in high gear and changed the safety features on the ECU to allow more boost (from 17psi to 23psi) as the engine proves itself for reliability. Changed EBC map from 1BAR to 1.3 BAR boost with 70% duty cycle...car is running very well...still a little tweaking to do but otherwise she's running like new which I guess she is. Now i wonder how many will understand what i just said?.... Pete

Does the insurance company know?

insurance is covered....I use a specialist company who serves Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin owners clubs...classic policy which is 75% cheaper than my last high street policy, full breakdown both here and across Europe and I have to say their customer care service is first class. In fact when I was discussing mods they weren't really that concerned until you start fitting roll cages etc but then considering the performance of these cars in standard trim mods don't really effect them much, they were built for speed to begin with. Mind you there was a guy at the Ace a few weeks back with over 1200bhp on tap.....now that's just crazy for a road going car.... Pete

Pete, my remark was a bit tongue-in-cheek but glad you are covered.

After four and a half days this week writing a report I escaped back to the workshop at work to continue work on a level crossing controller.

Paul, what happened in the intervening twenty five minutes? Is the ale particularly strong in your part of the world? Steve

Paul's probably had one of my soothing ales, which is what I need at present. Went out to the workshop to start fitting the driver's side spectacle plate but the place was like an ice box. For those who think Oz is a land of never ending summer sunshine currently the Great Dividing Range running the length of the east coast is blanketed in snow, cutting highways and causing all sorts of chaos. Canberra is just below the snowline so we get the cold winds but none or rarely any of the white stuff. So it's back to the fire with a railway mag life can be cruel. Jim

I've cycled 63 miles today in training for a tour of Scotland later this year. Then I sorted some drawings out for my A1 as my legs were too tired to stand in front of my milling machine all afternoon.
Jim,
that's a gorgeous looking A4. It looks real - what a model!
Best wishes
Andy
