Bored out the smokebox ring and reduced the diameter so the ring fits into the wrapper
Also dug out some 9 inch diameter wheels to finish off

Just finished a session of gear cutting for various items, mostly for other people. Several 28T gears for thread dial indicators, a 66T/18T compound gear for a Denford lathe, and a 20T gear for a Raglan lathe. Now to get on with my own work - trying to finish the gas engine.

Had a few hours with my MoK on a rolling road to test a injector from GLR Kennion. He is working from 50-100psi with water valve full opened. Below I have to close the valve a little bit.

Having said that, I've spent a few hours sat round the hospital. Saw how the little boys growing and Gina my partner had another checkup with the consultants and the pregnancy is going well.

Took my daughters and grandchildren to the club for the first time. The older ones drove the club battery/elec loco and loved it. I steamed Bridget and one of the member's grandson had some tuition. He ended up doing a number of laps driving solo. It was a smashing day and I think everyone will return if we arrange another day for youngsters.

i had a bad evening yesterday. having partly completed redecoration of the dining room i put back on the wall some favourite pictures plus my 2 antelope heads that my great grandfather shot in africa in the Boer War. i didnt use the old nails in the wall. one was obviously too short and 5 minutes later sound of an awful crash and one of the antelope heads had fallen on top of one of my locos...
i took one look, didnt say anything, and had to walk out of the room. my own stupid fault.
cheers, julian

We had a picture cord break and slice the back off a Lladro Swans figurine. Before we left for a break (ugh), I was striking and a stone went through a large double glazed patio door.

That's sickening Julian, what a catastrophe. I hope the damage isn't too serious.

julian , its sad to hear that , you are not alone , it happens to all of us , sometimes our fault and other times not but the bottom line is the same . Think positive , save what you can , fix what you can and move on , we can't win all the time . The good news is that you are OK and can take care of the situation .

After a dull day of sanding down a harp for finishing have been working on milling out the first pair of horns for the loco this evening following my first attempts at normalising. Seems to have worked so far - Guess I'll find out once I split the pair whether they're going to warp or not.

Spent all day yesterday drilling 3/64" holes in the Right Hand Tank outside plate for the Class 2 Tank. Around 380 holes now in it, had hoped to get Left Hand finished as well, but had a choir rehearsal last night and off on a few days holiday to son and family in France today.

Hi guys. Just joined and this is my first post.
An update for yesterday really. Like many of you my model engineering hasn't happened much recently due to real life getting in the way. Worked all day yesterday on rebuilding a Porsche 915 gearbox as part of a restoration we have going on at the moment. During my lunch I stopped to refit the engine control unit to my track day car after sending it away to be mapped this week. Hoping to get in my shed/workshop this week. Nets is in need of some work to get her through a boiler test. Then you never know I could actually get back to building the simplex.
I was going to add a photo, but apparently the forum has exceeded its limit?

Had a day working on both Land Rovers yesterday...it's amazing....I had a plan for the day and it actually happened!!! Usually when I have a plan something happens and it all goes mammaries up!
Now have Polybushes in the front spings of the 88" and new OEM shock bushes, the load securing rails are bolted in properly, the failed main beam turned out to be a blown fuse after all, and I've bolted on a new tow socket for The 109...both roofs got a scrub from Holly too...much to the amusement of the neighbours!!
