Hopefully we can recreate this scene this weekend back here in New Zealand. Jim Woods is bringing his IMLEC I.O.M engine to our Hunslet birthday steam-up on Saturday. Fifteen years ago since IMLEC2000 and on the same track as this years event I think. i58.tinypic.com/90830n.jpg

Sorry to be a spoil sport but Jim won at Leyland, I took part in the same event. Great bloke finished his run with a can of Guinness.

Jim Woods is always a happy chappy and a great inspiration for us budding engineers and a valuable source of information when we need help.
Lets just hope the rain stays away for our weekend....and yours at IMLEC. Hope it goes well and look forward to some youtube videos of the event.

This is the best we could do today. We did have a bottle of Guinness to hand but it did not go far between 20! I asked Jim for a recount of the story behind it which he provided. We certainly needed a Rum today.

Hi Nonort, It was a great weekend all those years ago. I was really happy with my 6th place. Completed 3 times since with Other loco's. Last year at Bournemouth I came 8th in the end. 2004 at Kinver, I was almost disqualified for drinking and driving the Merchant Navy with a miniature bottle of rum or two ?. 2007 at Llanelli was a hoot. I really enjoy the social side of it. Hacking, eating and seeing how others do it is great. I hope to be back again with a new loco of my own in the next few years.
