Hi Forum,
This was originally posted on the G3 Forum. I didn't get any responses.
The original BL FS had gun metal castings for the boiler ends. Any idea what the copper thickness equivalent should be?
The blower and regulator valves were supplied built up. Any ideas of a suitable design for these?
Cheers

Gauge 3 / 2.5"...getting in to some serious boilers there. I'm guessing you'd be looking at working pressures up to 80? To get an accurate answer we'd need sight of a drawing really, knowledge of the working pressure, if at all possible a view of an original casting.
You'd really need to run design calcs to properly satisfy boiler regulations

It will also depend on the stays provided. You haven't mentioned the diameter of the barrel.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I've sent the drawings out to be priced up for a boiler kit. On the advice of a senior club member I requested 3mm copper for the ends.
Thanks

The members of Strathaven MS are very helpful. They mostly build 5 inch and above. Many have built their own boilers so touching wood it will work out fine.
