Weeks before Christmas my wife ordered one or two folders to hold my Model Engineer mags, and surprise surprise they haven't turned up. Emails have been ignored and phone calls to the number provided for queries have not been answered. They have our money and we do not have the goods - that is illegal! At the very least we are owed an explanation, but ME refuses to make contact. WHAT is the matter with this organisation and HOW ON EARTH do they keep trading when they have such an appalling way of dealing with customers! I alone now have three instances of their inefficiency - see my previous posts - and so no doubt does the lady whose quilting books I received in error, so how many others are on the receiving end of their pathetic service? There is no point in cancelling my subscription as the money has changed hands, but I CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE RENEWING IT! However interesting the content, trying to deal with this organisation is never worth the trouble! Prospective subscribers beware. Pay by credit card and your bargain is with the card company, so you claim the money back from it, not ME.

Pay by credit card and your bargain is with the card company, so you claim the money back from it, not ME. We did pay for the folders by credit card, but that isn't really the point is it. Why on earth can't ME get its act together, and why should we have to go through the rigmarole of making a claim with our card company just because of ME's inefficiency! It isn't as if this is the first time its happened - I have now placed three orders with them and they have made a mess of every one! John.

John
I agree that they need to get their act together. I was informed that my renewed subscription (for two years) would end with the April edition in 2016. But, when I said this was wrong and that it would end later with a certain issue number, I was just told the same wrong information again and again. Unfortunately, the only way to protest, is to cancel my subscription when next renewal date comes up, but hat's "cutting off my nose, etc".
At least by subscribing I get regular copies of ME and MEW and don't have to schlep up to London Victoria Station or down to Bluewater in the hope that W. H. Smith will have one on the rack. No good asking my local Newsagent to reserve a copy, like I did with Wireless World back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. They get their copies from W. H. Smith wholesalers, and guess who gets supplied first with newspapers and magazines when there is a shortage of copies.
BTW. My remark about Credit cards was in answer to your bitch "There is no point in cancelling my subscription as the money has changed hands", so my natural assumption was that you had no way of recovering the money.

Hello Andy,
I agree with what you say. It would be cutting off my nose to spite my face to cancel the present subscription, although I only subscribed for the series on the IC stationary engine and the Saunderson tractor. I do however think its disgraceful that ME fails to reply to emails, answer phone calls, or address issues. I hoped that by commenting on this forum might provoke a response, but no such luck so far.
Perhaps if enough dissatisfied customers like you and me were to post here it might force them to sharpen their act up?
John.

I ordered two binders and got them within 7 days. Maybe they are out of stock? That does not excuse the lack of communication though!
I have just been on the "My hobby Store" website where I got my binders from and they are not currently listing "Model Engineer" binders, so I think it might well be a stock issue.

Orville, I think you're probably right and they haven't got any. As you say though, there is no excuse for not telling us the position. It would only take a minute or two to reply to our messages and to ignore them is pathetic!
I have now posted this same whinge on the Model Engineer website and it has elicited a lot of response I have been told by one person that in the past their distribution service was so awful that not only were messages ignored, but when a backlog occurred they were just deleted. The issue is now being dealt with by someone who seems to know what he is doing, but why he should be able to get an answer when we cannot is beyond me!

Different story with Merridienne / EIM.
Bought 22 tickets for the London Show on line Saturday, 02/01. System problem, so didn't get a confirming e-mail as normal. Couldn't ring them on Sunday, so called Monday morning. Very helpful lady looked through the database whilst I waited and confirmed that the order had been accepted and apologised for the missing e-mail. The cost hadn't been taken from my credit card.
The tickets arrived today and the credit card charged. And you get a 10% discount for buying more than 10 tickets.
Now that's service.
