Does anyone have a drawing of a suitable injector water valve that can accommodate 3/16" od piping.
Idealy, I would like it to be fairly compact as I have not got a lot of space to fit 2 of them and also a 1/4 turn operation.
Thanks
Donald

Hi Donald I made some for 6mm pipe that have 1/2" square bodies. Presumably too big for your needs, but I can send you a drawing if you want to try to scale it down. Chris

hi donald,
if you give me a day or two i will do a drawing of the valves i make of quarter turn type. there is a particular sequence of manufacture and silver soldering i use for the bodies so that they are easy to make and work.
i am actually at the current time trying to sort out all the pipework on my 5"g terrier Stepney and am having to re-visit the water valves ive made by scaling them down as much as possible as i have precious little room for the injector water valves for a variety of reasons.
cheers, julian

Hi Chris and Julian,
Thanks for your input. I would appreciate your drawings Julian, as and when you are in a position to send them to me. Currently I am putting the tanks together which is a big job, all the rivetting is done, just now fitting screwed connections for feeds to injectors etc So far have used around 1400 off 3/64" copper rivets. How many are littered around the workshop I do not know.
Chris, as Julian has kindly offered a drawing of his small valves, I think I will save myself a little work and go that way. Thanks for your offer.
Donald

i must apologise to Donald and Colin for my delay.
as it is 14 years since ive made a set, i thought i would have a go at making those for my 5"g terrier Stepney. an attempt the other weekend proved to be a disater, so i have found my original drawings from 1985, which are based on the martin evans' completion of LBSC's 'Evening Star' in 3.5"g.
all the ones ive made have been with straight ie parallel valves. it is the method of production that is problematic rather than the design. and i am having difficulties remembering how my sketches/drawings were actually made. what i am absolutely sure of is that some commercial drawings of these valves especially with blind holes are extremely difficult to make accurately, and the pipe connections are a problem.
hopefully those in progress for Stepney will be finished soon and i will describe them with pics etc.
cheers, julian

Hi Julian.
Thanks for the update, I have completed the right hand side tank, and am now starting putting the left hand together. Once that is sorted, I am going to do a serious look at the water piping system for the loco and get that completed and then will start the cleading. That is something I am not looking forward to doing.
I look forward to hearing from you when you have sorted your Stepney valves Cheers Donald
