Hi Folks,
I have a dome bush with a stripped thread. I wondered what others would do to deal with this. I have some ideas, but it would good to hear what others do.
Many thanks, Dave

My solution is a bit of a bodge. Assuming the thread is partially stripped and the fasteners used are screws I would either soft solder or Loctite a stud into the stripped thread hole and use a nut. Nuts on studs are a better bet because stripped studs can be removed and nuts have better gripping force than screws. Alternatively depending on how much land is available on the dome bush you could go up a thread size and re-tap the stripped thread to the next size up say 6BA to 5BA. But you would have to record this change somewhere on the locomotive to alert yourself or others likely to undertake maintenance that there is a thread size change in the position noted.

As above but with a stepped stud.
