Now that my loco is slowly progressing to a point of becoming a chassis thoughts have turned to the boiler, as drawn it is a copper vessel but the drawings show no identification of working/ test pressure I have challenged Reeves on this and they simply state that they only sell the drawings and don't provide any form of technical support.
My natural preference is for a steel boiler welded and expanded tubes, has anyone else gone down this route and had a design produced that complies with the legal requirements for design approval at all? The manufacture of such a boiler is not a problem for myself and I'm willing to make a contribution towards any sort of costings that a design approved drawing may incur.

Hi Jordan, We had the same problem regarding the working pressure for this boiler. In the end three copper boilers were ordered from Western Steam and we specified a working pressure of 100psi and the boilers were built to suit. This was three individual owners. John.

We have run the calculations between myself and the boiler inspector and agreed a 90lb working pressure given the stay pitch. I also have the boiler flanging plates to hand bought from Reeves grand clear out.
