I have had a Simplex boiler passed to me but without any certification. It was bought from an unknown supplier about twenty-five years ago but, as in many cases, the loco was never completed and the boiler remains in ex works condition never having been dropped into the frames let alone steamed.
The general opinion at my club is that it is professionally made.
The serial number stamped above the fire hole door is AS6999.
Does anybody have any idea as the maker?

I can understand the idea of finding out, but as long as it passes a 2 x working pressure hydraulic, folows the original design / construction and the inspector is happy it will be good to go.
