Just a suggestion, would it be possible to list the new members as a personal touch?

Hallo together, my name is Helmut, I´m living in Innsbruck/Austria und I´m a passionate model engineer for 30 years. In my workshop I build steam locomotives and freight wagons in 5“gauge. In the beginning of this hobby I started with the 3 ½“locomotive „Rob Roy“ following the plans of Martin Evans. My next project was “speedy” in 5”. Currently I´m working on a 4ax freightwagons with an air brake. Among my other interests are: building jigs, tools and rebuilding older metal working machines. Therefore, I have a little CNC milling machine, rebuild from a used Emco FB-2. Greatings and all the best.
Helmut PS. please excuse my bad grammar, (the schooldays long past)!

Hi
Just joined so quick intro
I'm from South Wales, not a youngster anymore and have always been interested in engineering which several years ago saw me actually start acquiring various bits of machinery and turning metal into swarf. No expert but getting there
Cheers

No expert but getting there Cheers Chris Welcome to the site Chris. Your account of how you got into the hobby sounds very familiar. Like you, model engineering always fascinated me to the point I plucked up the courage to ask a model engineer at an exhibition who was standing beside his part built Burrell, where did he learn to make models like his. His answer was 'You just get the castings and start from there, there's always someone in the club who can help when you're stuck' I took his advice, joined the club and the rest has been a ball of fun. What do you plan to build Chris? Cheers Jim.

Welcome to the forum Chris...as Jim said we all have to start somewhere..Model Engineering isn't a 'black art'...just take one step at a time, ask for help when needed and you'll soon be building your model with confidence. There are many learned folk on this forum so any questions you have during your build will surely be answered.
Good luck and most importantly have fun..
regards
Pete

You might like to introduce yourself to Julian aka jma1009 who lives in your neck of the woods and has a lot of valuable experience in the world of Model Engineering. Keep an eye open for the next Bristol Exhibition, that's worth a visit and not too far from you. Roger
