Hello,
I thought it might be courteous to introduce myself. My name is Tony and I'm a time served Fitter and Turner although my apprenticeship was more akin to a Millwright. Anyway, I was always interested in steam from a young age and had ambitions of building a miniature loco but at the time (still at school) I did not possess the skills or knowledge to do it. Nonetheless I built up a collection of tools and as time went on I got interested in vintage motorbikes and as a result a decent workshop developed. Eventually I succumbed to my other interest, marine engines, and built a triple expansion refining the design with the aid of lots of old marine engineering books. I am now working on a Winson 9F which has had significant modification and has been air tested, and I have to say that it runs quite nicely considering that I'm sort of working blind. The aim is to build a loco that looks correct without being museum quality and is reliable.

Welcome Tony,
You'll find plenty of help here and far too many of us with 9fs! I have a Winson 9f myself so if you need any help let me know and I'll see if I can offer any guidance. Please do create your own build thread in the general section so we can see your progress!
