Came across the following "problem" on a part completed loco I bought some time ago. The boiler cleading on the firebox has been attached by four small screws (which are 1/8th thread and do not penetrate into the firebox) I have been told that this would be rejected by a club boiler inspector? The cleading does not extend to the base of the firebox. What would be the objection to "filling" these holes with soft solder? Or comsol? and extending the cleading to the base of the boiler. Would this fix damage the integrety of the boiler. Where the screws are fixed the copper is double thickness (at the edges of the firebox/backhead)
